How much are you guys paying in the U.S. for a brand spanking new GSA with factory top and side cases. Here in Canada it is about $25,000 Cdn. or $22,500 converted to U.S. dollars. To me it sounds a little pricey!!! There is a used one with 10,000 K.M. that a guy is trying to sell for $23,000 Cdn. Needless to say that there is no scheduled delivery of any 2007's until spring so no one is interested in any kind of deal whatsoever. Thanks as usual for your imput. Ron

Hi, I am a K1200LT owner and I own a KTM Adventure LCS 640 as well. I priced an R1200GSA at BMW of Denver and it came in at in $20,000 range. I haven't bought anything else but am always looking. I have a question for you as I haven't had much experience in Canada beyond Banff. I am planning on travelling thru Alberta on the way to Alaska next summer. Any info you might offer would be appreciated.

msrp or real close for most, from what I have heard.
The bike has not been out long enough for dealers to be discounting them much at all, in fact I had to order one in White and wait for it to be built
I can;t believe I just said that, hell I would not wait on a harley! I refused to partake in that bs and I just did it with a Frggen HUGE DIRT BIKE!
WTF was i thinking!

Hi Jim! If you are going through Alberta on your way to Alaska. I would come up from the States through the going to the Sun Highway through Waterton National Park. Then up highway 21 along the eastern slopes of the Rockies. I would then cut over to Banff along 1A. Take the Banff/Jasper Highway which is one of the most beautiful rides in the world. In Jasper head east on Highway 16 until you come to the Forestry Trunk Road. Go north through Grande Cache and then onto Grande Prairie. From here you can connect up to the Alaska Highway and continue north to Alaska. Good luck on your trip. If you are coming through, let me know and we can try to connect up. Ron

I too have an LT and have been looking at the Adventure for a little different ride. Not to replace my LT, but in addition to my LT. I am in the Navy and just moved to Groton, Ct. I was out for a ride this past Saturday and ran across a dealer in RI that just happened to have a 2007 Adventure in stock for $18845 (msrp). Long story short, I pick it up Friday. They want $2300 for the top and side adventure cases but I will negotiate that a little. Anyone have a lead on after market luggage that fits the Adventure mountings?

none that fit the mounting but ther are plenty that are out there, ask your dealer to knock off the price of the mounts and get some other bags, personally I like the BMW bags, they are light large and seem pretty well built, we have them on the wifes gs now which can be seen at my web site
Today Bob (bmwAtlanta) told me my bike was on the schedule for delivery it has shipped and due on the docks in NY the end of the month so I should see it by turkey day
I don;t know how long I will keep my lt, this justmay be the ticket to get my Panhead finished up for traveling on it as well

I had been waiting for the GSA for a while now. The local dealer who had my
deposit got one recently but the wanted full MSRP so I told them to wait.
Meanwhile an 06 GSA with only 800 miles and the right options (ABS, BC,
Fog lights and saddlebag mounts) popped up on Advrider closeby. It turned
out to be a pretty good deal as the owner is going out of US for a while.
I just picked it up today. For all practical purposes, the bike is new with
approx 3K saving.
I picked up a Give 46lt topcase from CA Sport Touring on the way back and
will get the BMW Adv saddlebags before taking a long ride. The Adv topcase
is too small (33lt) for me.
It showed 150+ miles remaining with less than 1/2 tank :)

I'm not yet a GSA owner, but I plan to be. The weight capability of these is limited by the bike, not the bags.

I've saved 3k with my dealer in the last year alone, I hope he makes a good profit on my GSA. I didn't even ask exact price, I know they will treat me the best he feels he can, I know I will not get ripped off, i know I will get good service from him in the future, PLUS and he is going to need the extra pennies for the phone calls every ten minutes when it gets closer to delivery<grin>
and I get to put the first mile on it! woo hooo!!!! plus i bet he gives me the credit card to go fill it up again! yup yup yup yup
(kids in candy stores ain't got shit on me right now)
here looky again, hehehehehehe

I do not like how the tops open out, that was a pita on the harley, you must remove anything strapped across the back to open them they should have had them open inside instead of out at least you could have shoved something in or pulled it out, as hard as side opening cases are to pack they sure work well for trips and packing large amounts of gear on the bike

Thanks, you will definitely like it. This is my 5th bike in the US and the only
one I bought 2nd hand but given that it was less than 3 months old and only
800 miles, I don't feel like it is "used".
I agree with you about supporting local dealers, I do that myself. If
something this good didn't show up, I would have bough new from a local
dealer. Still have to get back my deposit from Calmoto.

TomYour observation is right on. However, I think a box with a hinge on the inside would require a completely different design.
Does the BMW (yet unavailable) open with stuff piled on top? How much weight does each BMW bag carry? And, do they come up high enough to pile stuff on top? I'd like to know since I may order soon.

RonI've been poking around for a few weeks. It seems discounts are unlikely until the supply/demand ratio decreases. If I purchase one with all the factory installed accessories, the dealer might throw in a tank bag, might.

oh trust me, I would love to get a deal and would have purchased a slightly used one in a second!, I just feel good about buying from my dealer, I know i will be taken care of as best as they can. Plus i really like giving the owner a hard time about when my bike is coming in <g>

Just went to a dealer yesterday, to see the new 2007.
They told me it is $17.8xx and out the door, with some bags and so, easily can top $21.500

Full out the door price of an 07 GSA with ABS, fog lights, bike computer and the 3
Adventure cases+mounts in CA is about $24000. The brakedown is approximately
16675
1040 (ABS)
375 (fog lights)
270 (BC)
360 (saddlebag mounts)
2400 (saddlebags, top case and locks)
~450 (setup/PDI/whatever you dealer calls it)
+9% (tax, ttl, registration)
Some of them also come with oddities like chrome exhaust (~175) and so on...

Thanks for the numbers. I am just checking with Canada Customs about the cost of bringing a new bike into Canada. It looks like it is more administration than anything else to bring a GS across the border. With no GSA's coming to Canada until 2008 that haven't been spoken for, it looks like the only way I am going to get one is to buy it south of the 49th and ride it home. Ron

Tom
you are right! I had it in the new bike order but the one I bought doesn't have
it so I forgot. I do plan to add it before taking any long trips. I believe the
factory (or an aftermarket) alarm can be easily added and the installation
is not that much.

Ron...if you're going to wait until to spring. They might make it worth your while price wise (there's a hint that you might get a discount on a fully loaded bike -- if they don't pre-sell all of their allocation). Ask for Mike.

yup it can be added, I did not order the tire pressure monitoring either, traction control is not yet out ,
the tire monitoring sys I believe is made by (shoot the name is it smart tire? for now it slips me mind (it;s early I'm working on coffee still (grin)
anyhow I have been watching for some time now, I wanted to at least put one on my wifes bike she seems to like getting flat tires <g> but too many problems with it to make it worth my time and money to install, to many false errors and to many times I've heard of failure with the unit, I'm sure if l(like others are doing) you tape off everything except the PSI one would enjoy it. when I see less problems coffee it I may change my mind
