Phil,
What other BMWs have you ridden? I had an R1200C for a short time. Emphasize "short". The bike was cheap and had a rear seat for the SO (only other bike I had at the time was an R1100RT-P - No rear seat). I generally found the R1200C lacking in the stability and control as compared to any other BMW I have ridden. Sold that bike within a month of purchasing it.
I would recommend you take a nice long test ride on an R1200C before buying one. Would probably work out if you are looking for a cruiser type bike. Just didn't do it for me.

The R1200C doesn't fit my requirements either but I do find it superior in the handling department to other 'cruisers' even though it doesn't look much like them.
