Lynn and I made it home safe and sound Sunday around 8:00 PM local. Highest mileage day was Saturday coming back was approx. 930 miles due to my mistake in thinking the GPS was wrong and going 100 miles too far up I65. Noticed that Memphis was getting closer and recalled it was in the wrong direction. Rats.

LT ran fine all the way and that's saying something considering it was loaded way beyond the gross weight limit. The only equipment failure was the Escort 8500 radar detector display couldn't take the load and went out on strike. It's rather entertaining riding along and trying to remember what all the bleeps and bloops mean without any friendly tips from the read-out. Helped me keep from getting bored.

Only thing is, the day after we got home, I took the LT out and right off got an anitlock failure. This was soon followed by the speedometer leaping like a fresh hooked trout and then expiring. Well, I figured by recollecting what's been posted here over the years that the sensor cable from the rear wheel speed sensor had broken. Confident in this assurance, I glanced down a couple of miles later to be shocked to see the speedometer back working again. ??????? Yep, never easy or simple for me.

Anyway, I deeply appreciate the dkindness and understanding folks showed me at CCR. It was a difficult time for me for various reasons and even Messenger 13, Joe was nice!! It showed to me that this community has folks that care about each other. I can't express my deep thanks and appreciation to each and every one.

Hopefully we'll see ya next year. It'll be a lot closer for you, and by then I'm sure a lot of circumstances will change. They always do.

Take care Karl. :)

Howdy, Karl - really, really glad you and Lynn made the trip; difficult as it wuz, it wuz a great thang to see from down here in the Hill Country of Tejas. I wuz rootin' for you both the whole week. I think you musta shied away from Dave Dragon's and Andy's and Steve's cameras tho - I missed finding you.

Lissen - on the erratic speedo needle and ABS blinkee blinks - Toad wuz doing the same thang before I finally found the split wires that David Shealey first noted. Fact is, Toad's cruise control would go south when those two wires got separated by a bump or whatever. Sooo - keep an eye on it, and don't be surprised if the symptom returns. Or - if you've a mind too, go ahead and pre-empt a search along that wire loom and see if you can detect a break, either internally or in the sheathing itself. Better to find it in the garage, than out and about. :thumb:

And hey, start feedin' the piggy bank a leetle here and a leetle there for Tan-Tar-A (what the heck is the pronunciation of that thang anyway??) - I'm doin' the same. A *$$ for me - a *$$ for the piggy!! ;)

Take care, both of you guyz. Glad you had a great trip both ways.

Thanks so much, Joe. Makes me suspect you really don't qualify for the IM award. We are already making plans for next year. Thanks again.

Hi, Dick. yeah, it amazes us that we got there and back and the mileage each day was easier than we thought it would be. And the LT just flat ran like a striped ape. If you look through somebody's (Dang I really hate this oldsheimers) pictures of the tech session, you'll see me doing what I do best, being ballast. Mark Neblett was standing on a chair and kept stepping on the front edge and getting dumped. So I stepped up and held the chair back down so we didn't let Mark pop that bad knee of his. Worked ok except when at one moment I was looking at where Mark was pointing at the nose cone from about a foot away and someone turned the HID one. Thought a medium sized thermonuclear device went off in front of my face.

Gawd help me, but I've got the right rear tupperware and passenger foot peg off the bike and have traced the sensor cable up from the sensor to a plug next to the rear brake reservoirs. I'm gonna clip all the zip ties and try to separate the plug and see if the cable will come off the sensor and if so, run continuity tests on the cable looking for wire breaks. The current zip ties don't look terribly tight or kinked, but other than the rear wheel sensor itself, I don't know what else is likely. I had the best shop in the area (Beemers and More) change the oil, transmission and rear end fluids, check and top up all fluids. They also installed the HID and put a new front tire on. So, I doubt it's a low fluid issue. However, I'll take a look there to be sure. Sure hope I can dodge my negative mechanical karma this time.

Lynn has a second job now. She is writing a text book for her occupation! Damn, I'm proud of that girl. We are really going to sock money from it into next year's trip fund. With that and my WalMart Geezering and Brother Bob has given me an idea on making more income, so I think at this point, next year is looking pretty good.

Thanks so much for the positive karma sent our way. Sure helped.

Hopefull Karl

Joe definitely does qualify as an IM, especially after seeing those pics. But he's got a good side too. It's just easier to find in person than in his many posts. ;)

Well, in person, you can whack Joe up side the head to reset his main circuit breaker. Lynn says it works just fine on me.

Well, that maybe, but from the pictures I've seen, the postues and positions certainly give a new meaning to whack up side the head. I'm thinking of going to the booze brothers with a camera and tape recorder. A little blackmail could certainly generate a little trip paying income.

Meese is beyond blackmail...even after his questionable behavior during Wednesday night's meeting.True, but the rest of y'all should be worried. I've met Karl, and seen what he's capable of (just as long as Lynn doesn't find out about it). ;)

Hey, as long as I get my cut and a nice romantic dinner out of Karl, I'm in!
