I'm blowing and going, IH10 to 5. That is, unless I really make good time, then I'll have to take 1 up the coastline.
My favorite food? Anything but broccoli, cooked spinach and asparagus. I'm a simple guy with a simple mind.

Well, on second thought...... NOT!!!!! I said I was simple. How do you expect me to remember the really disgusting ones that have been blocked? I remember a nun forcing me to eat something like that, I threw up on the plate and she made me eat it anyway.

I know we have an extra week to decide on a venue, which violates the HDDC tradition of waiting until there are mere hours before heading out,......but with Grif gracing us with his presence, it's not too early to start the selection process.
Let's pick a place that the guys to the South and West can make as well.
Maybe Pyramid Brewery, downtown Sac.?
Perhaps Vince's, Elk Grove?
Ideas anyone?

Grif might enjoy Fosters Big Horn and the ride along the river, or maybe a nice ride in the foothills.

I'll buy a beverage of choice for the first correct answer. You don't count John as I plan on getting you drunk anyway. No Wednesday night repeats, however.

While we're at it, what's the best time thru Los Angeles? Or, is there a good way to go around it and hit Hwy 1?

There is no good time to hit Los Angeles.
If you want to bypass L.A. area I'd start heading northwest towards Mojave and come over Tehachepi (it can get cold) or take 395 up to 88 and get some twisties in before you head down to the valley and take 99 up from there to La Casa. Or go further up to Minden, NV and cut over to South Lake Tahoe and then take 50 to Sacramento.

While we're at it, what's the best time thru Los Angeles? Or, is there a good way to go around it and hit Hwy 1?Howdy Grif,
If your objective is to "ride the Coast" from LA to SF, then shooting out to Malibu and the Pacific Coast Highway is rightious, dude :yeah: .
But traffic, especially on the Beach Freeways, is a real crap shoot. They're not commuter oriented so they get congested at odd times. I would expect normal city freeway speeds if you traverse the 90 miles between Redlands and Malibu between 9:30 AM and 2:30PM, Monday thru Thursday.
If you want to avoid the LA basin traffic, as John said, you can jump off of 10 and head up through Tehachapi, then head West to the Coast, say, Santa Maria.
If I were doing it, hadn't done it before AND time was not critical then I wouldn't hesitate to hit the PCH.
