Thanks to you all!! Hope everyone likes my new southern drawl. I'll have it improved by CCR 2007.
Now let's get serious. For those of you who are not aware of it, we raised $17,000.00 at the silent auction. I want to thank those of our membership that contributed items to the auction. Let's not forget all our biker friendly businesses who were also very generous. Without all these donations we would not have been so successful. The money was presented to Tree House, an organization that helps physically and sexually abused children. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when we made this presentation, and Tina the executive director was absolutely flawed. I'm certain we all felt great helping such a worthwhile organization.
A big thank you to all that helped set up for the auction. It couldn't have been done so swiftly and smoothly without you.
I hope that all of you will start thinking about CCR 2007 and ways in which you can contribute. It will be hard to top this auction without your help. So put aside those new and gently used items that have been collecting dust. Advertise your company with us by donating items for the goody bags. Volunteer to help at CCR with registration, the auction or merchandise.
I guarantee, your participation and help will make you feel really good!!

Gilda's hard work made for the most of it, the 50/50 and the generous heart's of our folks bringing it to 20 grand. A fine lady donated her winning portion of the 50/50 of over a grand for a total of over 21 grand.
That's going to help some needy leetle kiddo's. My heart bursts with generosity of this fine group. A great bunch of folks, indeed!

Gilda and Jay, We love you and all that you do to put together the auction! And thanks to Sherry this year too. I'm going to think of some craft items that I might be able to put together between now and next year to donate to the auction. The table runner seemed to be a big hit and there are probably a few things we ladies can create that might appeal to some next year. What a great group!

Gilda and Jay,
Thanks for running a great auction! I know it's hard work and it takes lots of coordination and patience. I greatly appreciate all your time and effort. As always a huge success.
Congrats,
Hector

Gilda/Jay - since I'm off the Bored last coupla years, I'm out of the loop on who is who on the Chairs. Are you guyz doing that again for '07? Thought I'd get back in the swing of thangs and throw my volunteer hat in the ring for dusting off the items on the silent auction table, or lugging the stuff off the yacht up to the auction room. Mainly interested if you two are gonna continue the excellent performance that makes the charity gifting so important.
Now, I'll go over and read the Renuion pages and see if the answer is already there!!! ;) Take care, cya on the lake.

Dick, not only will it be a pleasure to see you at CCR 07, but it would be an honor to have you, along with all the others, to help set-up and operate the Auction. Realize that I told Gilda what you said, and that she now has your name at the TOP of her new list for people to help next year! You went and done it now, son! You got to be there now, no excuses allowed!

Seriously, as we get closer to the event, I'll get involved in the procedures more closely --- really lookin' forward to it, Jay.

I can only imagine what it takes to pull of a SILENT AUCTION, let me give you my guess…well first you have to secure the donations via letters, personal visits and phone calls to suppliers and other vendors and CCR folks donating personal items and services, then I would imagine you have to receive the items, inventory them, store them and finally ship them to the CCR location, then I think after you get to CCR you have to uncrate the items, secure the late items, put bid sheets with each item, set up the room for the auction and run the auctions for about 6 hours or so, then collect the winning bids, run down the folks that forgot to come by and see if they won…collect again…total the bids and present the check (the fun part).
With over 300 items up for bid, someone has been working on this since they returned home from the last CCR silent auction in Jackson Hole.
Add to this the fact they sold her home, moved to Tennessee and had child’s wedding in the process.
Dang, I’m give-out just trying to write about it…
Thanks you Gilda and Jay and the rest of the Slomka family!

Actually, Don, Gilda says to tell you that she thinks you're over-thinking the situation. She says that we actually get a break for 2 months after we get back from CCR! Then we have to start getting the e-mails, letters, posts, etc ready for sending sometime in early January!
She also says that "We women know how to multi-task. We can do all that stuff, and still have time to nag husbands, both our own and someone elses'"
