35 years ago I had a Suzuki 120 which I rode to University in Sydney for a year. I didn't ride again seriously until the year 2000. The old 120 had 4 gears, 4 down (I can't remember which side, I think the left).

Ever since I've been riding the LT, I will quite often change up by tapping the gears down i.e. intend to go from 2->3 and 3->4 and instead actually go 3->2 or 4->3.

I can only put that down to old habits. With nearly 100k on the LT, I presume it will be soon that the new memory pattern overrides the old!

Eventually. :D

My problem was that I rode a BSA for about 6 years, took 28 years off motorcycles, then started back with the LT. It took me about a year to fully get rid of the right gearshift habits of the old Beezer. Funny that that muscle memory stuck around for 28 years! Would sometimes down shift with no clutch when stopping.
