Wow, what a machine this is !!
Only 14,000 kms and tight as a bull's #^&% :)
Had 1986 Suzuki 1400 Cavalcade since new but, sadly it had to go to Japanese heaven after 20 years and 100,000 of the best kms.
Also had a 1997 K1100LT for 5 years; but no comparison to this beauty !
Looking forward to picking up lots of tips and tricks from the veterans out there.

make that 2 for a ride in the caledon hills.
We can meet in somewhere around oakville, go up through milton area and then into caledon.
I'm off to halifax for a 5 day ride on the 14th but back after that and could easily meet up with a bunch of Canadian LT'rs. Slowly there are getting to be more and more.

When I was down in Austin TX, they could net keep them in stock. Austin police bought 15 LT's.

I was refering more to the number of LT's in Canada.
I can believe that the police in Texas as any other force, would rather have an LT than an HD.
But, as you know there are not a lot of LT's in the Canadian market. Not sure exactly what "not a lot", but I would hazarda guess that BMW Canada hasn't sold more than 200 since introduction across the entire country.

Hey guys, we need to get together. I, too, am a new guy with this machine and would love to meet up with you all.
At the very least, we should plan to all get to Dover on 10/13 but maybe we could convene sooner. I was down there today and noticed that I was the only "individual" in the that whole pack of non-conformists who ride the American dream in black and orange!!
Any ideas?
Regards

I've been to Dover twice with my LT, only saw 1 other one there. What about getting together on Sat 30th Sept. I am pretty busy up till then.
I am up in the Orangeville area and ride my LT 12 months of the year.

Orangeville ... 12 months a year !!!
What brand of snow tires are you using !! ?? :histerica
I'd love to get together in Dover but this time of the year is my busiest ... can't guarantee so I won't make a promise :(
Definitely need to join up in future though ... also, next spring/summer we could maybe meet in Port Credit some weekend and go sailing !!
Catalina 30' ... comfortable for 5 ... excellent way to release stress from a week's worth of whatever has been eating at you.

Pardon the interruption (eh)...but what exactly is the "highline" model? Never heard of it. Was that just in Canada eh?

Hey Joe, what are you talking about?

According to Mike Hyland at Budd's in Oakville, the 'highline' model comes with lotsa chrome plated trim pieces on the side compartments, mirrors, and in other strategic spots. (and no doubt tons more expensive to replace !)
I've compared pictures of other LTs, and some appear to be dressed in black trim in these areas. As far as I know, that's the only difference for 2001 model year.
Also, (... again, I'm no expert ) mine has a 6 changer CD where possibly the 'lower line' did not.
Strangely, some things are marketed differently in Canada ... same story for cars and trucks too.
Dunno ...
My digital camera needs repair so I can't show a pic.
