Boxer LT?

On my way back from Colo, I did a RON at a motel in Raton, NM. A bunch of Wings had just rolled in, about six, half with trailers. They gathered around the LT and had words of praise for its looks. Then one guy says "Is this one with the horizontally opposed twin motor?" I almost said "Yup" but I suspected one of the other wingers would set us both straight. I was also temped to say "No, its a four, just like a G-Wing."

Hope you and Cathy had a great trip? Missed you all at Sunset Cafe this Saturday. It was combined with the Hillcountry group, we had twenty Beemers show up. It is Amazing how many bikers especially Touring people who do not know about the World Greatest Lux Tourer....You should have taken them on a joke for just a few minutes....something like it this new German 1900cc V-8 want take look inside the plastic......LOL

I had a great trip (solo) and sorry to miss a great gathering! I thought it odd that the guy didn't know ANYTHING about the LT...even I know that the newer Wings are six cyl boxers...or are they? I should have asked one of them about the air bags on the '07s....

But any trip to Colorado is a great one, even if I have to blaze across West Texas (in non-stop rain this time) to get to and from there. I ran through some fallen hail in Colorado that was about 4" deep on the road, had ruts through it just like wet snow. A little exciting when I caught up with the storm but found an old service station to duck under just in time.

GW is a 6, but not a boxer. I think they borrowed that from the Brits (Irish?).

Being Japanese the GW uses more of a Sumo Engine.

Sorry Zotter, but I gotta disagree with you. The boxer motor is the style of motor not the number of cylinders. The old Volkswagens, the Subaru's current motors and the opposed 6-cyclinder in the GW are all BOXER engines, just like the twins that BMW makes.
