I just bought the K12lt about which I enquired in the thread "anybody Know this bike?"

I need a set of instructions for the GPS system on it. It has the OEM kit that was standard in the 02 model. can you show me where to find it? or send it to me some how? Please

All BMW standard GPS equipment is/was a rebadged version of Garmin units.

They have manuals avalailable for download free of charge.

http://www.garmin.com/support/userManual.jsp

Just a matter of identifying which unit it is and select Mobile Electronics then Automotive in the drop downs.

I'm not sure which model was standard on an 02..sorry.

If it has an external antenna, then chances are it is a StreetPilot III, not to be confused with GPS III. No antenna, then somebody else will need to help you out.

Congratulations on getting your new-to-you bike Dave.
Post some pics so you can gloat over it. How are you finding it so far?
21,000km for an 02 isn't a lot.
I've put nearly 18,000 km on my 05 in 12 months, and its going in for its 20,000km service in a few weeks. A little early but I want new tyres etc.
So we'll see you and you're good lady at the Snowy Ride then??? or maybe the after Ulyssees LT gathering?
best regards

Hi Malki,
I think that Dave might be referring to the OEM GPS system that is 'fitted' by BMW rather than the rebadged Garmin unit that was an extra as opposed to an option...if that makes sense. The former unit had a little screen/display that sat up above the radio display and the control unit sat in the RH side pannier on top of the CD changer unit...

Cheers,

Ian

Dave,
I had a surf on the net for some instructions for you but no luck mate. May I suggest that you post in the main K1200LT forum (on this board) and see if one of our mates in the States might be able to help you out. You might need to make it clear that it is the OEM gps system, not the Garmin/BMW Navigator gps...

I'm sure that someone will be able to help you out pretty quickly. All the best mate,

Ian

That style of OEM GPS was never offered in the US. Maybe one of the European riders can help you out? I'd post in the Euro forum and under the main board. And yes, you'll get several helpful folks telling you to contact Garmin. :)
