I recently posted about my negative experience at Tag Sport BMW in Geneva. You may recall that they jerked me around and ultimately would not honor the test ride that I had scheduled. Thanks to all for the PMs and posted replies to my original vent. I took some comfort in knowing I wasn't the only one they jerked around. Misery loves company I guess. Anyway I took all the advice to heart and continued to pursue a test ride, but to no avail.

Well my wife set up a little surprise for me in Kansas City this weekend. We were there visiting family in the area and she arranged for a test ride at Engle BMW in East KC without telling me. She then got my brother in law to drive by Engle's slowly, knowing that I would make some comment about wanting to show him the RT. Sure enough I bit, he pulled into the dirve way and said let's look at it. Soon as I walked in, my wife pulled out a bag with my jeans and glasses and told me that Norm and Bobbie were going to let me take a test ride. They were so nice and accommodating, even though they knew I was not at the buying stage. They are the epitome of great dealers. I guess that's why they have been around for over 50 years!! In fact I would consider doing a fly and ride through them, though I'm not sure how a long ride would jive with the recommenced break in period. Any thoughts?

Well, anyway, I liked the RT (slightly better than the ST) but based on some messages I received I am curious about the GT now. Engle sold quite a few this year already and has quite a few on preorder for the 07. None on the floor. While Southwest is a cheap flight to KC, it sure does seem a far ways to go. I will now try to test ride a GT locally but who knows, may end up in KC again...

Well,
I was one of the folks who gave you my opinion about the crappy service from your "local dealer". Its good to hear that your experience in KC was so much better. As for the fly and ride/break in... you should know that there is a (600 mile) service. From what I understand, (and others here can certainly correct me if I'm wrong), the 600 mile service is to verify that all is in working condition.

What a great way to "break in" a new bike!!!! :D
Go for it!
