My 1st post to the forum. Oy there. I'm purchasing and Lt this fall or spring and would like any info on the changes made between the 05 and 06 models. Also, are there any specific issues I need to be aware of? Thanks

Oy back atcha. Since you just joined the forum, I'm sure you haven't had time to read all the posts related to your question, nor do a search using some keywords that'll bring up some archival posts on the subject. A good start is the one about mid-way down in the list of posts displayed just below the last post in this thread. Good chance you'll also find some known issues in those two model years. Won't be many, butt whatever they are, we'll talk about 'em 'til there's a solution of some kind!! :bmw:
Good reading, and welcome to the family. Hope you find the right bike for ya next spring or sooner.

Welcome to the LT forum.
The inner smartalek wants to say the biggest change is that they cost more :)
But that's not really the kind of information you're looking for, is it.
I'll tell you what I know (that shouldn't take long) :)
I just bought a gently used 05 about 3 weeks ago, had an 02 before that, loved it.
The 05 has 16 more horsepower and when I twist the throttle everyone of those ponies gets up and goes, yeehaa.....
Most of the other differences are very suttle, they changed the dash and the instrumentation, added a few features like central locking and "landing lights"
But the bottom line is still, these bikes are awesome
Enjoy the forum, look around there's some really good folks, some pretty good jokes, more information than the normal brain can absorb and occasionally some differences of expressed opinions, most important we are all friends here, so if you decide to hang around and become "one of us" take a couple of minutes and fill out your profile, so we can get to know you.

Colors, cost, HID ('06) and the '06 has an in-dash timer. Yeah, a timer. Have one in the Silverado. Use it all the time...yeah....... :D

Same basic bike, but BMW added a bunch of things that were optional on the '05 as standard on the '06, including Xenon light, luggage rack, heated seat, convenience package, and comm system as standard. The price went up by $2100 over the '05, but the options...if you bought them all...were worth $2400 at the '05 prices. I've heard that some of the early model year '06's did not have the higher level of equipment (or higher price) so be careful.

Look at that Gandelf,
Duane is only one post ahead of you and he already knows all of that. :)
Is this a great forum or what?
