I noticed lately as the days are warmer by bike has a definate flat spot from 1000-1700 RPM. It'll pull off idle okay for starting out but it doesn't roll off with any authority until it builds some revs. I've never really paid attention so I can't say it's something new. When my bike went in for it's 6000 checkup they found an intake leak and said they fixed it. Being my 1st summer of ownership I have nothing to compare to.
On the plus side I'm commuting busy Rt. 22 in the afternoon and getting a solid 45 mpg. Most of the riding is 0-60 for 1/4 to 1/2 mile spurts before hitting the next red light
So, is this lag normal or should I be calling the dealer?

Don't know what year your bike is but it sounds like the infamous "Brown Wire". Just cut it and you'll be fine. Do a search "Brown Wire" and you should get enough hits to read all about it.

YEP ... Mine , a 2002 did the same . Cut the wire and fuel with premium. Hesitation gone.

On a side not ... I typically get (On the on board computer which could be skewd) 52 mpg on the highway. :bmw: And an overall average of around 43.

When I bought the bike (a 2005) it already had the canisterectomy and brown wire mod done, as it was originally from Florida. I can't say for certain if the summer heat is making it worse, though.
