No surprise on this topic, is there? After reading a couple of books by David Hough I thought I'd follow his advice and utilize my front brake more. And it has had its' benefits, especially with control. But, guess what? Now, the front brake squeals too! I am working diligently on a duet between the front and rear brakes ..........

After talking to many people about this issues, it appears that EBC Brake Pads are the way to go. I just ordered two sets for the front and one set for the rear from Motorcycle Pro Shop (http://www.motorcycleproshop.com) at a total cost of $87.79 delivered. They are on sale right now, so I recommend buying them right now while they are on sale.

Regardless of price, there are three things you do not skimp on when it comes to motorcycles: Helmets, Tires and Brakes. Mine do not need replacing right now, but it is worth the money to get rid of the noise.

Towards the goal of silent braking, I ordered up the EBC HH pads - front and rear. To boot, I also oredered up the EBC rear disc.

Got the rear pads a few days ago. Not installed yet - wanna to 'em with the new rotor.

Fronts are being cross-shipped from someone else's wharehouse. I'm told it's "Due to un-expected demand" that they didn't have 'em in stock. Maybe 'bikebandit.com' got mine from that Pro shop of yours?

The rear disc? 'Backordered' with no ETA...

At this rate - I'll have brakes silenced by Halloween...

I own a 2006 LT and after I bought it I was waiting for the day that the brakes would begin to squeal after reading all of the posts in this colume. The day finally came when the rear brake begain to start chirping just before I came to a completre braking stop. One of the posts I read suggested a home remedy of simply driving the bike at freeway speeds and activating the rear brake to get or reduce the glaze that developes on the pad. (or whatever causes the squeal to develop)

I am happy to report that I do this from time to time and it worked for me. My bike has the original pads on it and currently 7200 miles and no squeal. From time to time as I approach the off ramp by my house and with no cars behind me, I simply "lay on hard" the rear brake from about 60mph maybe a couple of times. I realize that both brakes will activate, but, I though I read the rear will engage first? Anyway, it is enough to clean it up and avoid swaping out brake pads.

Maybe this will work for some of you.
