I was on my CBR, throttle pinned on the 401, speedo was indicating 285km hr. But who knows how fast I was going speedo's at that speed don't reflect the true speed. If only I had the GPS.
On the same highway I was on a 944 Turbo's tail until he ran out of speed, he topped out at 155MPH, and then slid over to the right lane and let me pass. I walked by him so I guess the CBR was doing 160'ish.
Great bike.

I would have thought a 944 turbo would have pulled a more more top end than that, my '88 924S pulled 154 same drive line as the 944 but with no turbo musthavebeen less drag on the 2 without the flars and spoilers, wow those 944's handle sweet!

should we poll it?

The Turbo has more legs but for some reason he moved over, not sure why. The 968 is very nice too.

never drove a 968 but they sure look sweet, heck any porsche is fine well ok maybe the 914's were a bit lacking in all departents but for the money it wasn;t a bad car

The 914 was a sporty VW, it wasn't a huge success. My buddies 911 is amazing, he just got it and is slowly breaking it in. Pure speed and no roof, gotta love it.

Just last weekend, went up to Mid Ohio for Vintage Days. MV Augusta had demo rides. Had F4's and Brutales. Took F4 and Brutale out, guy's were very liberal with the bikes. Saw 130+ bike pulling hard, unbelievable machine. Brutale was more fun and comfortable though! Buddy and I must have gone through test ride line 10 times, felt like a kid at a carnival.

Not on my ZX11 but on my 86 ZX10. That thing was a monster. I used to live near Riverview Golf course near Scottsville, NY. I could get that thing up to 170 on the speedo in a heartbeat, and then brake like crazy to make the turn around the golf course. Of course back then I was young and stupid. Now I'm not even young anymore! :D

I've done 125 with the LT on the highway. I guess that's not an exploit, but I was very impressed with the protection and the serenity of the bike... But at that speed, corners are coming reaaaaaaal fast...

When I bought my ZX11, my wife (then fiance) gave me $1000 to help pay for it, but she tried to make me promise I wont go faster than 85 with her on the back. I was coming down from Gerome, AZ and cruising along at a cool 110. She glanced over my shoulder, did not like what she saw, and grabbed my right nipple, and about yanked it off.
With women like that, we don't need no maximum speed limits. :(

Thanksgiving morning 2004' I was well above the 185 mph where the speedo indicator stops on my modified non restricted Hayabusa. This was the only time I went that high of a speed while I owned it. 160-170 was very easy and quick to achieve and I did it often. What a rush it was!!

You mean there is a differance?
Every road is a race course, whether your crawling along at 25mph on the expressway, just inching to beat the mini-van to the exit  (It's okay we all do it, well I pass on the shoulder to educate them why MC's are better then cars  )
Or your on a limited access highway.
Give any 2 guys with testosterone left in them, wheeled turnups or anything else, there will be a race.

Howdy Nelson,
Would you believe me "IF" (operative word in case my insurance company is monitoring) I told you that Wolfgang and I have seen the + side of that number?:o :D
Most of these K-S', K-R and other hyper-bikes (like Joe's old Ninja) can get up and over the 150 mark in a big hurry. Not really that hard to do it and with many of this crowd having those types of bikes, even as conservative as most of them seem, I can believe the numbers.
Let me know if you want to take Wolfie for a spin and you can add your vote

I do think some have got to that speed and more. I just keep thinking of this site more of an LT group (i know its not) and thats what makes those numbers hard to belive.

Why not? I've been pretty darn fast, I never said on the LT,
My whole point on this thread was to see if anyone here ever broke legal speed limits on one poll
and just to see how fast some herehave gone
over 150 is nothing anymore on a bike, now if they started saying over 200 well then that might be a different thing

I would be surprised if more than 2 or 3 of the people on this forum have seen 200mph. And I would have to have documented proof to believe it.
But like Billy said, my ZX-11 got to 150 fast. And I mean FAST! My new GT gets there just as fast, or so it seems. I've only seen 149 on my new GT though. But I have several witnesses that saw me go faster than that on my ZX-11 at this year's 'STC for Riders' Rally when I raced Joey Fletcher's Triumph Rocket III. Joey learned the real meaning of "FAST" that day. :D

Now Joe, were both wheels doing 150+, or just the rear. ;)Since I only refer to GPS-indicated speeds, I think it's safe to say that both wheels were spinning.
As for "the burnout"...I don't think the rear wheel reached 20mph.

I missed the poll. I have been recently 136 indicated by speedo. I was amazed at how fast that appeared. there was very little traffic and I had an itch, was alone, so I just had to see what it would do. BTW I was southbound on I-55, on the elavated stretch between Ponchatoula, and LaPlace, La. I had some guy go by me in a Mustang GT, so I opened it up and he saw a blurr pass him. I was told by the salesman she would do 140+ but I didnt stay in it long enough to find out, traffic was coming up fast so I slowed. I did have plenty left and was not close to redline.

136 indicated still gives you around 124 max real speed. You can get the speedo needle completely past the 140 mark, with a lot of road and a slight downhill. At those speeds, you're better off in 4th than 5th, as the power band dies off rapidly as the wind drag increases.
But a true 140 mph? No way. That's just his sales commission talking. ;)

ok you say stock bikes , ok I don't think a stock bike has broke 200 mph ...... YET
how about a TAD of work to a STOCK busa? 196 from the factory?!? for what 11k dollars US Half what our LT costs
Suzuki grabbed the bar and used it to clobber Honda and Kawasaki. Suzuki raised the top speed 20mph over other heavyweight sportbikes. The bike they sent in to do this was the Hayabusa.
It was 480 pounds of big, ugly, aerodynamic motorcycle. It's 1300cc fuel-injected, four-cylinder motor put out over 155 rear-wheel horsepower. That's 16 hp more than any other stock sportbike at the time. Out of the box it would do sub 10-second quarter-miles and would top out at a real 196+ mph! Bad.... bad craziness. The Hayabusa’s top speed as measured by the Guiness Book of Records is 317 km/h = 196.9747
Although now it is said the ZX-14 is faster, But Is see no top speed and quit looking
BTW those are production motorcycles

Yep, I've ridden 2 Busa's. One bone stock, and one tuned and stretched for the strip. Just about everyone that has owned one claims they've been over 200.
Anyway, I'm the wrong guy that you guys need to convince that bikes do go 200 mph. There are many individuals that have done it, typically in a controlled environment, even if that environment is on the street.
My point, if you read my earlier response closely, is that I would be doubtful if anyone in this group has personally seen an honest 200 in any situation other than the 2 instances I mentioned, and that's probably doubtful too.
Very, very few people have the nerve to hit those speeds on public roads. If you've passed a couple semis on the interstate and then get them swerving into your lane at over 170 indicated , you know what I mean.

I've seen the runway video before. That's another good way to do it safely. Joe, if you want to see 200 you should give him a call and see what you could work out.
The truth is as you know, once over 150, nearing 200 doesn't feel much different. The trick certainly is building the power and stability. Just riding it is the easy part.
I know this is a hollow comment, but if someone walked up to me and said they have a 300 mph bike they want me to try at an airport, I'd be there.:D If the venue was Talladega or Daytona, that would be interesting. If out on I-70 I don't think so.
