Hi folks,
Today I placed a deposit on a 2003 LTSE which is quite a big step considering that last saturday I travelled 200 miles to view the bike and didn't get to try it out. I salivated on the showroom window as i could see the beast in full view. :)
Anyhoo, back to the reason for this post !
I have just removed my Autocom Active-Rider (http://www.autocom.co.uk/pages/autocom_active-7-smart.htm) from my Triumph with the hope of fitting it to the LT, however a friend who also has an LT ( but no Autocom ) tells me that it's not a simple task, something to do with the brake system ?
Should this task be done by a dealer or is it something that can be tackled by a newbie such as me ?
Thanks
Andy

I have an 01 with Eurocom and it is wired into the heated rear seat supply which is switched on with ignition. There is lots of info at

Welcome to the fold.

Very easy two wire connection.
If you want music from the CD to play in the headsets it is more difficult and you will have to buy more parts from autocom, I have had it both ways and in my opinion it is not worth the hassle to run the CD into the headsets but it's your bike.

I have an Active 7 Smart
not a wire problem.
connecting to the CD player and sat. radio takes a little thought...but just a little.....

Thanks,
So how should I connect the wires, is it true that you can't wire into the rear brake light ?

I take it you are not wanting to start a crimped v's solder war ? ;-)
Most bikes do not have the extras found on the LT and the only guaranteed power supply in most bikes towards the rear, which is the preferred mounting point, is the supply for the brake light. On the LT there is plenty of room under the rear seat and the battery is close by. Lift the front seat then undo the 2 bolts that hold the back seat in place and lift it upp gently. The wire that connects your seat to the bike is the supply for the heated seat and is only powered when the ignition is on. Take your power (+) from there.

Hi grahamw, thanks for clearing that up for me. I don't pick up my new 03 LT til this Thursday but I'll give that a go.

I took power for my autocom from the fuse for the heated grips.
No problems :)

OK, I picked up the bike from the dealer on Thursday evening and had to cut away at my drive gate / fence as the LT is much wider than my Triumph Trophy. If all goes to plan today I'll be taking my good woman out for a spin, I'll let you know how I get on. :)

Great ! I've got the Autocom connected and it was a doddle, thanks to you all for your advice. :)
Yesterday (Sunday) Jill and had a ride out with friends to Settle in North Yorkshire, needless to say that we're both very happy with the ride on the LT. No sign of the numb bum syndrome at all which was quite evident with the Triumph Trophy, the only niggle I have with comfort is vibration through the throttle grip. I didn't get this at all when I rode the bike for 170 miles non stop on collection from the supplier, strange.
Here's the beast, I'm still deciding on a name for it which is unusual for me as I don't usually name my bikes. :bmw:

Yours truly trying to look mean and broody, but looking like an average size bloke on a huge machine. :D

Very nice and I bet your glad the other half approves. Wait for the first time she falls asleep then clatters your helmet when you brake ;-))
Enjoy

That happened on Sunday, I'd switched off the cd player several minutes before hand. Quite funny when it happened. :)
