Has anyone mounted their unit under cover? Does it work and do you lose signal?

July issue of owners News, Rick Mayer describes the process in detail.

You'll lose laser altogether.

If you don't position it with a clear rear view, unobstructed by metal compontents, you will lose rearward detection (important to have when the radar source is coming from behind)

Has anyone installed or had the Passport SR7 installed on a motorcycle? $1099.00 seems like a lot though.

I'm not aware of a radar detector that has a rear facing antennae besides the V. There are some that claim 360 coverage but that is because they have a useless IMO rear laser antennae. You will pick up rear shot radar but you will notice that it is stronger when you are passing cars going in the opposite direction. This is because the signal is bouncing off them and coming back to you.
Hope this helps. Physics, what a wonderful thing.

My wife prefers that my unit is kept undercover while away from the house ... :histerica
