I know air travel is safer than any other means, but when it does go bad, its bad. Here's the photos and a link to the article about a HP compressor disc failure on an American Airlines 737 at LAX.

aww, c'mon, you guys KNOW how tough it is for airlines to make a buck these days!?!? they run 'em till they fall apart.. cost is the same.. after all, they have insurance and the backing of Congress (and we all know how frugal they are).
After all, you don't think the airlines would compromise safety...do you? They wouldn't want the cheapest mechanic fleet possible? It's all the same, right? Cheeper is better.. always.. right?
