OK... just a couple of comments:

I think much of the airport/airplane security process is a joke. I don't think we need air marshals, because passengers will -- and already have, on several occasions (and I'm not referring to 9/11) -- act to defend against a potential hijacker, a beligerent drunk, a person who is off their meds, or whatever. I think we should hand out guns to passengers as they board the airplane. Let's arm everybody, ensuring a well-protected environment. And I'm only kidding a little bit...

We shouldn't be surprised that air marshals are telling us a quota system is in place. As long as their managers' compensation is tied to the amount of "work" (reports) being done, it will happen.
