Several times now I have put 9+ gallons in the tank of the Adventure.
The specs indicated 8.7 usable I believe.
Anyone else experiencing this?
BTW, I have not drilled the neck of the tank; yet!
I have attached an image of two receipts; one from California and one from this morning. Both show 9 gallons and change.

Hey Dave,
I have been able to put 5.4 + gallons in my GS with a 5.2 gallon tank more than once. I don't believe that it's unusable unless the pickup was placed incorrectly. I believe that BMW is very conservative on the measurements and they also don't take into account for the filler neck.

Dave,
I have heard that if you at empty, no bars...you can lean the bike to the right, the .2 fuel is now useable... I tried this couple weeks in Ontario on my R1150 GS.... finally found a sawmill that had a fuel pump and sold me so petro....
BTW, I think I posted....purchased a used 1200GS...didn't have time to get it licensed to match my licenses and insurance before headed into Canada...not to mention the farkles...
Great trip... did Finger Lakes region, then Niagara Falls, Ontario for a week and then over to Vermont for MOA...met up with few folks... Lynn and Janet, Bob, Al and Mel, Fletcher and Doug. Fletcher is headed to Alaska now.
Congrats on the cross country, BTW I talked to Rick Mayer, he and wife and their dog sat next to me at the closing ceremony at MOA, also talk to guy you purchased your sidebags from...
