Nathan and myself headed to Quincy this last friday to attempt the Grizzly ridge Trail. (http://www.4wheelpartsadventures.com/pastIssues/0410-issue/041015f-backcountry.html)
This trail is a combination of dirt roads and trails that stay on the ridges and peaks along the upper feather river from North of Quincy to Portola. The trail started at Taylorsville and ended at Lake Davis. We visited three Fire Lookouts and Old abandond mine and a few lakes. With the spurs and little side trips we covered about 70 miles off road. The dirt roads went from loose dirt, to heavy rocks to small dual track grass covered trails.

I have sent my pics to Nathan so that he may combine them and make another great file to watch.
This was my first all day off road adventure - I had a blast. I got better and better handling this 500 pound beast as the day went on. By days end my confidence for off road was much improved. I had the maps with the turn by turn milage directions. It's a little harder reading directions off road then it is on the black top. I believe with a little more practice I could lead some of these off road adventures we can set up with the HDDC. Maybe next month we can set up a day and do the Hennessy Pass Trail with a small group. That is as long as you patient and not in a hurry.
Here are a few pictures until Nathan adds mine in.
