Wow! Congrats Jim. The POSSE has another adventurer/convert.

Say, if you are free today, stop by with your RT. I want to test/check something out if possible.

D'oh! Another one bit with the GS bug.

Congrats Jim.

You got it one day late - Nathan and myself just spent 2 days above Quincy on the Grizzly Ridge trail, a perfect GS type weekend.

Just back from my first real ride on the GS. I went Hwy 16 to Latrobe Rd, then up Hwy 50 to Hwy 49 to Georgetown on 193 all the way through to Cool. When I got to the river went right and up the hill to Foresthill Rd.....so lots of twisty roads. The RT feels more fluid but GS gave me incredible confidence for a bike I have no experience on. After an hour of twisty roads I was completely comfortable and fairly sure I was never going to scrape pegs on this bike, wrong! Still confident at least.

It gets worse Hal... Have you seen this (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11844) thread? "They" keep posting more amazing pictures of far away lands I'd like to visit - if not for the limited traction of the LT!

I think they're just rubbing it in now. Either that or someone has a glut of GS's they need to get out the door...:)

That's just to show what can be done. The lights are dual lights. They have the city light bulb in them. So you can have a triangular pattern with two 'low' level lights and the headlight and if you really want to turn night into day, flip on the big ones.

The other bar is shorter and was designed around the Hella FF50 lights, but it will accept most of the Hella and PIAA light kits.

Thanks my friend!

We have determined that we could do it with a one size fits all bar length. A happy medium between the two bar lengths thus keeping the lights from getting damaged in case of a tip over.

The idea was to see how large a light we could mount without interfering with the bike's steering. Mission accomplished. :)

Thanks Billy, in your absence I've taken my RT off road twice without incidence but figured a third time might not be a charm.

See you tomorrow
