Condolences to the family and friends of Petty Officer 1st Class Jerry Tharp, laid to rest this afternoon in Keithsburg, IL. He was killed in Iraq on July 12 after being struck by an IED.

Thanks to the Patriot Guard and others who shielded the mourners from the hateful antics of members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

Shame on the members of that group for holding signs such as "Thank God for IED's". I know that you have the right to do what you do. I wish you had the sense not to.


Shame on the local TV station for showing that sign, giving these jerks just what they want.

Thanks to Jerry and all of the other heroes who have given their lives. Thanks to all of those who have served, and serve now.

Condolences to the family and friends of the Petty Officer. He did NOT die in vain, but in the act of supporting his way of life, and all of those at home.

As for the Westboro Baptist Church, without men like the Petty Officer, they would not have the right to try to dishonor him.
