Hi all,
I am to get a new hip 8-8-6 and was wondering if any one might have a 'few' positive suggestions on their own do's and don'ts to follow after the operation and recovery.
Also, how long did it take before you felt at ease riding again.
Thanks....
Glenn

My wife, aka Sweetpea, had major back surgery two years ago. She was riding her scooter a little over a year later. It was by her courage and determination that she strengthened herself enough to do whatever she wants. Lots of PT, and hours in the gym, are the keys, along with a positive attitude, to getting where you want to be. God bless.

A friend of mine (72 y/o) recently had hip replacement. After three weeks he was back to work full time running his service station. Today, eight weeks after surgery, he told me he felt better than he has in years, but the doctor still won't let him lift over ten pounds. If you need a tire changed, he coaches, but you gotta do it yourself. :thumb: :thumb:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Get lots of PT and follow the therapists advice. Also talk to a dietitian about a good healing diet. I'm sure you'll feel a good 10 years younger once you get it taken care of.

I like to hunt pheasants just south of you around Sterling. Always stop by Cabela's when I'm in the area up there.

Hi,

a guy at work (age 54 ish) had a new hip a couple of month ago. He was due to be off work for 6 weeks, but was back after three. He is a cyclist, and used to pedal 6 miles every day to work. Doctors told him he was to stay away from the bike for at least 3 months, but was riding to work again 4 weeks after surgery. He had a very pronounced limp before the hip replacement, and now he walks tall without a limp.

He said it's the best thing he every had done, and wishes he had had it done earlier. Took a couple of months to build up the muscles in his leg after the surgery, and was lucky to be left wit a fairly small scar.

I hope your experience is as good as his, Howard has a very positive attitude to life and all things in general, so I guess this helped too, can't beat a little P.M.A.
