I have reviewed everything I can find on Ipod interfaces on this site.

Has anyone been able to get a Ipod (mine is a 30gb video) to be controlled by the radio?

Here are the interfaces I believe do not allow control of the Ipod by the 2005 LT radio:
Dennison Ice-Link and DICE
Soundgate
Blitzsafe

Here is one that might be a possibility www.usaspec.com/ipod.html (http://www.usaspec.com/ipod.html)

The Blitzsafe and the Soundgate do appear to allow you to connect your ipod and charge the Ipod battery, but you can not control it through the 2005 radio.

MP3yourcar (http://www.mp3yourcar.com) has information on an aftermarket Becker radio (Which I believe is used on the 2005LT) but no response to my emails on compatability.

If any of the experts out there have a solution for Radio control of an Ipod with the 2005-2006 or soon to be 2007 LT please post.

Thanks.

I have an 05 and a DICE with a 30 Gig ipod video...it does work with the controls but DOES NOT work with text display. I had issues with my older 15 Gig ipod.

fitsman, can you confirm the radio/cd in an LT is the (Becker) BMW Professional 2000 please?
I have that radio fitted as standard on my R1200RT and I think it is the same as the LT. I am/was interested whether the DICE kit shows mp3.tag info on the bike's display and you suggest this is not so. Dension claim compatibility with the K1200LT so do they accept it is purely for ipod control and not text?

I have the connects2 ipod adaptor on my bike and it worls very well for controlling the ipod through the bike's controls but there is no text info in the bike's mfd.

It is as likely to work as the ice>Link that I have, it lists the same radios as the ice>Link. It probably won't be any worse. Most of the time my iPod plays, text displays and I can change songs, but it is not dependable, nor does the user interface work well, and now I can't get the to control menu on my ice>Link. I would not recommend the ice>Link.

If you hook the Dice to the CD harness it is controlled by the radio, on the radio control pannel you select the cd changer mode then using the handlebar controls you can control the volume and skip songs and go forward and backward, you can access you song lists. I will scroll text on the older LT's the 05's won't but when the Dice tech hooked up mine yesterday he got it to do it on CD1. He said the new software coming in a couple of months will improve alot of features on the 05' and newer. The key is to figure out how to set up your i-pod and then use the handlebar control to accomplish want you want to do.

:(
I have tried everythiing the Dice support email group has offered without success.

I can get the Ipod to work with the radio and change tracks and charge, but cannot get the text to display.

I don't want to keep beating a dead horse with Dice if it's never going to work, but the box says it will work and I ordered it from them and told the sales guy my model and year so if they duped me I can live with that, but someone needs to stop the lie.

Any help available from my LT comrades?

Thanks in advance.

The Dice and Icelink will both work on all of the LTs for audio and Ipod control. They definitely aren't without issues, but they do work. They will not display text on the 2005 and later LT radio displays.

I have read that others have used the Blitzsafe, but I haven't seen one installed.

I used the IceLink with my '99 for a matter of months before I successfully updated the firmware so that I could enable the text display. It was a novelty for a while but I could live without it, especially the way the text scrolled across the little display like a stock ticker. Being able to charge the iPod and control it with the handlebar switches was the real function, to me.

I don't recall anyone posting that they could get the IceLink to display text on a 2005 or newer LT. I've not paid much attention to what the Dice can or can't do.

All my MP3 info displays in vivid detail on my Zumo, though.
