I have a CD for my LT that has all the maintenance information, but I haven't seen the same thing yet for the RT? Since I just picked up my RT (2 days ago) I want to start getting ready for the PM intervals and stuff.

I've seen a few people selling CD's for the R12RT on Ebay like this one:

Just be aware that these are unscrupulous people profiting by making illegal copies of copyrighted material.

agreed, these are not legal I'm sure for $10 :)

now that said.. I'm kind of curious, where are you supposed to get the real manuals from the proper channels? I've recently begun thinking about purchasing manuals for my RT?

You get the "legit" material from the dealer...

Now having said that... They wouldn't be copied and sold on ebay if the price was closer to reasonable.. I paid full BMW retail for my cd...

Good luck on yours.....

You can order them from your dealer, or direct from BMW here:
http://www.bmw-riders-gear.com/Index.asp
At the bottom of the page click on Gear, then Maintenance, then Information, then Repair Manuals. Then you have to click on the little numbers 1-5 near the bottom of that page to see all the ones available. The R1200RT manual is on page 5. $135

Agreed, but have you purchased any other automotive or motorcycle service manuals recently? They are ALL very expensive now, be it Toyota, GM, Honda, etc., etc..

I don't like it either, but I hate even more lining someone else's pockets for doing nothing more than illegally copying CD's and selling them. Just about any computer comes with a CD burner now, and for about $0.30 they are copying and selling for $5-10, or more. That is HUGE profit for minutes of illegal work.

I paid full price for my CD as well and I agree, that and the poor quality are boosting the pirated copies. The bottom line is it's just a lousy format for a service manual. It's also nearly impossible to print pages you need to take to the garage. Maybe BMW believes all BMW riders have computers in their garages.
