Interesting site. Coming over from Harley I am just starting to get used to this quiet thing, I love it. Rode my bike over to a buddy's house and walked in, he says I thought you were bringing your bike? I said, I did. He was amazed how quiet it is.

My neighbor came over the other day as I was getting ready to leave for a ride. He said " I wish all the motorcycles were as quiet as yours".

I'm of the group that just doesn't get the need for noise, but I have to share today's experience.

I was riding home from work, per usual, and the freeway was packed, per usual. Today, being "Ride to Work Day", there were quite a large number of additional bikes on the road, including Harleys, which I usually only see on the weekend. So, I'm lane splitting as usual, but I come up behind a patch of tightly packed vehicles, which prompted my caution to take over, so I laid back a little bit. A standard practice for lane-splitters is to peak in the rear-view for faster or in my case, thinner bikes, so as to be ready to let them by. Here comes this headlight, so I pull into the lane and let it by. The rider looks back at me waves, friendly and I thought I even detected, a little cute, in spite of the tatto covered, high-hanging arms, leather, etc. The license plate "Luna Chic" assured me I hadn't suddenly changed orientation (I hope). She pulled up to that line of cars and blasted that V-twin and it was like a Red Sea parting. Openned up a channel for the rest of us and got me home in time for dinner.

I still agree: "Ride Stealth", but am a tiny bit more tolerant after today.

Every single motorycle that I've owned has been quiet. Unless they're in Joe Rocket mode of course. ;) Like my new GT. It sounds very similar to an LT. Until about 5K RPMs . . . then the growl begins. http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/images/smilies/yesnod.gif By 10K, it is singing a very different tune, and I LOVE it. :D

My favorite is to ask my Harley buddies to check my exhaust pipe and see if my bike is running. I tell them I cant tell if its running or not.

When I took the Experienced Rider Course (ERC) the instructor kept asking me to shut off the bike so the GW's and others could get theirs started.

 I guess I'm wondering why the instructor would ask you to kill your quiet LT so the others could start theirs. Or, do you have some kind of sound enhancer on yours?

Ah, sorry Triker... I took the ERC on my HD about 10 years ago...that's when that happenned.. The most recent one was on the LT and the instructor kept freaking when we dragged parts in maneuvers....

On one of my first bikes (HONDA 720 and the GSXR750) those bikes were so stupid loud. I remember stopping on a moutain-pass with buddy's and I heard a bike coming up the road for the next 20 seconds, and then going past us and another 20 seconds. I turned to my friend and commented on how loud and obnoxious that was. He said that my bike was louder than that. That is when I realized how incredibly annoying it can be.

Although I will always say that it definitely gets peoples attention, and that does seem to help you get noticed (for safeties sake of course).
