Not interested. Would rather have something like a 376 with the upgraded 3D view software and touchscreen. I wonder what motorcyclists Garmin supposedly talked to when they designed this unit? BTW, the Tom Tom unit sucks. Got to play with one a while back. What a joke.

I'll stick with my 2720 for now.

Nice features. I will wait for ZumoXL with a 4.5-5" screen. Garmin, are you listening? We need bigger screen with proportionally scaled resolution (not a cheapo low res 5" like Lowrance 500). 3.5 is too small, 7" is too big for a portable unit, esp on a bike.

BTW, there is no mention of how/will it support loading extra maps, besides the preloaded ones, when travelling outside of the region (US map unit in Europe etc.)

The Garmin Zumo uses SD memory card expansion to add extra storage, to add maps or exchange maps and routes with your friends. I will be ordering a Zumo.

The side buttons seem like a good feature, sort of like the BMW Navigator.

I don't see anything about a "line out" for the XM/MP3 audio, only the Bluetooth voice prompts. I wonder if you'd need a Bluetooth module hooked to the Autocom (or whatever audio system you have) to get the sound into your helmet speakers.

Also, I see the XM antenna is optional (as with the Bluetooth-enabled 2820), not included (as with the 2730). Something to consider if you want to use the XM feature.

Just sounds like the moved the 4 buttons on the right side of the 2610/2720 to the left side of the unit instead of adding 4 more. Since I haven't seen one yet, I'm just surmising that is what they did.

When the price comes down a little, I can see a zūmo 550 in my future.

This looks like a great new product, now if they had a scenic or motorcycle auto routing selection I would order it today. I have tried and tried with my 2610 to get it to auto-route me onto the back roads but it just wants to put you on the slab. I love my GPS and I won't leave home without it, but that is the one thing I wish it had.

Even without that I think this looks like my next GPS. ;)

Just got off the phone with Garmin Tech supp.
They indicate the unit is Bluetooth capable and it has the usual audio line-out feature.

am I missing something cause I can't see where it states how many waypoints it holds, how many tract logs you can save.

the reason I went to the 276c was 3000 waypoints (of my choice) and 15 tract logs savable

I think that the waypoints, tract logs, and routes are now in the SD card, so it depends on the size of the SD card that you use. Now you can just pop it out and give it to someone else. :)

I attended the GPS seminar (led by cyclegadgets.com's founder) at the BMW MOA rally last weekend. Very interesting and informative, and the guy is an excellent speaker.

I don't have my seminar notes here with me, but I do know I'd rule out the Zumo and go with a 378/478, or 2820/2830. If you need to know the specific reason post a reply and I'll look up my notes at home.

Me three. :)Well, as it turns out my notes on the Zumo are entirely as follows:

1. a compact GPS, made specifically for the m/c
2. price not determined yet, but cyclegadgets.com will sell it for $1000-$1100
3. the unit is not available yet

Perhaps #3 is why I was thinking I wouldn't give it a look! :o

The speaker had an excellent final slide, which summarized all the various Garmin units. I do not have a copy of that info but I'm sure they'd be glad to share it. For my purposes I'm thinking the 378/478 are perfect. They are identical except the 378 includes inland waterway maps and the 478 includes coastal waterway maps. (keep in mind this unit is intended for car or boat...)

The 378/478 is $1300 list; cyclegadgets sells it for $1049. The XM receiver/antenna is an additional $250.

The Street Pilot products have a touch screen, a feature some people like.

Guess I don't have any negatives on the Zumo after all, except that it's not available yet. Smaller screen, perhaps?

I will still want to see the Zumo "LIVE" before buying my next GPS. I love my 2610, but it's about time to hand that one to my wife and get a new unit for the GT. :) We'll see...
