Looks like the meth was impairing her judgement. I hope she spends a least a few years in prison...

If this kinda thing is going to happen at all, why can't it happen in Texas. Seems to be the only state that knows how to deal with morons like this.

Seems like a lot of accidents up in the foothills lately. This lady is something else. I think we have all ridden on that road as well as the stretch of Hwy 16 near Rancho Murrieta where the two Volvos had the head on last week.:(
She'll get 30 days for killing the rider but 80 years for starting the fires.

Where's the murder charge for killing someone while operating a vehicle under the influence?

If "everyone" sits by and lets the DA decide how serious it is, you can bet it will turn into a sob story of self-victimization and socialist subterfuge. It's time to start collecting scalps.

There needs to be a previous conviction for DUI to charge muder.

It'll be interesting to hear if she's already got one on her record. If so I hope they sticker her under the jail for a LONG time. Considering what she did and how far she drove on the rim I'm guessing she was trying hard to get away and hide, or just too f**ked up to have any clue what was going on.

I didn't read anything about it either. But, like Ted, it's the first thing I thought of. It could be alcohol, or meth, or both.

The thing about DUI crashes is that Emergency Services get to bill the offender for their time. I know the CHP will, we always do. I hope all the fire departments, as well as the Sheriff's Department.

Here is the El Dorado County Sheriff's press release. (http://www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/sheriff/press_releases/071606_hwy49.pdf)
And here is the LINK (http://www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/eldoda/message.html) to send a message to the El Dorado County, District Attorney's office.
Please take the time to let the D.A. know that you will be following this case.
Here is my message to him:
To District Attorney Gary Lacy:
In re the case involving Tamara Sue Wilson.
Sir,
I am aware of the vehicle "hit and run" and resultant motorcycle fatality of Gregory Clyde Shannon on July 17, 2006.
As a motorcyclist that rides often with my wife as a passenger in El Dorado County, this case has my keen interest.
The motorcycling community in El Dorado County and the surrounding counties is substantial and passionate about safety and rider protection. We, through the many Web based communities, will be monitoring this case in order confirm that justice is served and that the life of Gregory Shannon will be valued, respected and not bargained away in an expeditious plea agreement.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
William Turner,

Mountain Democrat version of the story: http://www.mtdemocrat.com/articles/2006/07/19/news/page_one/1n_01.txt Similar to the Bee's version, but without the annoying registration requirement.

Well, after reading that story -
Some slick lawyer will take her case and they'll sue the county and state for her injuries by the dog and she'll never spend a day in jail or even community service for what she did.

Hope you don't mind, but I used your e-mail, with a few changes, to send a message to the DA:

Bill-
I did the same as Vicky. I hope you don't mind.
I also noticed on the MSN site the story of a girl practicing for her DMV driving test at the Roseville DMV facility, hit the gas instead of the brake and managed to open a new "window" in the Roseville DMV building.
It's getting to be commonplace for stupidity while behind the wheel.
As I am tooling down Auburn-Folsom Rd. (Bill knows this road), a guy in a SUV is watching T.V. on a screen in the dash. At the freeway on-ramp, some gal in a new Audi has a file of some sort on her steering wheel and a cell phone doing the bob-and-weave on her ear while she splits the on-ramp lanes.
Scary is no longer a word I use when I am out on these roads... they are not only dangerous, they are damn dangerous!

Just one more reason to take the backroads - when it's not hot enough to melt them!

Greg was a member of Hangtown H.O.G. They had been on a group ride and were returning to Placerville after a day of riding. The group stopped in Plymouth for refreshment but Greg continued on by himself. Makes me have a lot of what ifs.
