I rec'd V7 of City Navigator, but I can't unlock it. The website says the unlock code is in the "clamshell", but I don't find it in the jewel case, if that is what they mean. I haven't paid for it yet, so I doubt I have the code. But I can't figure out how to pay for it. I called Garmin, but the 30 minute estimated wait time is a problem for me at work. Is there an online place to pay?

Thanks.

I have the same problem. I emailed Garmin because I can not wait on the phone for 30 minutes either. The auto reply I got said they will answer my email in 5 to 7 days. yikes.

When did you get the AutoReply? Let me know if you get an answer. I leave on vacation Sunday...

Thanks

Load the DVD into your computer and it should connect to the Garmin website and give you a chance to pay for it and then give you an unlock code.

If you unlock any version of after the release date of a newer version, you get the newer version free. The expected release date for v8 will probably be 7/1/06 even tho it isn't shipping yet.

Didn't work for me. Mine is an update. I'm running 6(or maybe 5) now. Anyway, in 5 minutes I'll try to call Garmin again.

I am running Ver 5 and requested the upgrade ver 7 and have been waiting 2 months for my "Free" disk to materialize in the mail.

I went back to the garmin site and re requested and it would not let me so the wheels must be turning albeit slowly!

I just got off the phone with Garmin. I called at exactly 7:00 a.m. and it still took a full 30 minutes to get a live operator.

He told me that v7 cannot be unlocked. I asked why they sent it to me, and he just gives me sales gibberishhttp://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif

Bottom line: They are sending me the full version of v8(update disks are not yet available), for which they are charging my credit card $75(the update rate) and another $25 for overnight shipping, plus tax.

Well they must not like you. In December they sent my disc next day N/C.

They sent me the v7 disk overnite, no charge. I guess they figured once was enough...

I am an idiot. I bought the wrong version of software. i bought Metro Guide. Oh well. That was a $100 mistake.

However, I did find out the my xm antenna/radio is having problems and they will fix it under warranty. I will send it in after the Rally.
