A quick summary of a thread I put on the main site...
Found that at 16000km I'd run out of rear brake pads, and scored/beaded the rear rotor (disk). The giveaway was a clunking sound as I used the rear brake caused by a pebble (or metal bead) that was caught in there.
After pricing a new rotor ($534) plus labour plus pads, Procycles at St Peters said to bring it over for a look to see if I could get away just with new pads.
While I could have just used new pads, the Service Manager said they'd replace the rotor under BMW warranty as it was "too rattly".
Hoping to have it done in a day or two.
Others getting this replacement under warranty had been mentioned on the main site.
So if you're on an '05 or later you may get it replaced if you have a problem.

Good news Chris. Glad to hear the dealer has helped you out. Got me thinking too, and while "Jenna" was elevated today for her new engine oil, I removed the rear pads, cleaned them up, and measured. Stacks left. I guess the difference in our riding, commuting versus country, also has lots to do with wear, as per brake time / miles. Easy to measure as well, so now part of my check list. Catch up with you guys when we return. Ride safe. Cheers.
