The Reno chapter of the Blue Knights is running their annual Blue Butt Rally on Saturday, August 12th. There is a Friday night riders’ meeting, and the rally starts the next morning. There are two routes to chose from: 250 miles in 6 hours, or 500 miles in 12 hours. Sorry, they’re not running a 1K route this year.

Web site:
http://www.bknv2.com
Follow the link to Blue Butt Rally to download the forms.

Group room rate available until July 11th.

A few of us here on the LT board are attending. I’ll start the list for Paul Paniagua and myself. I’ll let the others add themselves:

1. Tom 250/6 hour
2. Paul 250/6 hour

Tom, don't forget Tonya's birthday dinner at the Ruby River Steakhouse, across the street from the Peppermill, on Friday night!

Sure think, Mark.

Nope, haven't forgotten. I can't speak for Woz, or Tonya, but being that it is a no host, informal dinner, and knowing how social Woz and Tonya can be - I would bet all riders would be welcome, not just Knights. Would you agree, John?

Shall we set a meeting place and time for the ride to Reno on Friday the 11th? A&S is an easy meeting spot, but what time looks good for everybody? Late morning? Early afternoon? Paul and I are flexible, but we don’t want to wait too late into the afternoon – too much weekend traffic going up.

Also, there is a steak house across the street from the Peppermill. One of the BKs (Mike) and his lady are having a no host birthday dinner there after the riders’ meeting. I’m planning on attending. I’ve emailed Mike asking if there’s room of all of us, or if I should secure another table -- that is, if you guys are up to it. Capt. John, I already know you’re going. But, John F., Nathan, Mark, are you interested in the steak house Friday night?

I was going to work half day, I can meet at A&S about 11:30am. IF that works for everyone we could get lunch and head up the hill, even have time for the scenic route.

I'm up for the Steak house dinner if you want to get a table.

Anytime Steak is involved, I am there. Count me in.

Since the riders meeting is not until 4:00pm at the earliest, I was not thinking of leaving until mid afternoon say around 3:00pm. But, then I was just going to blow up 80, staight there.

However, I'm totally open.

Tom;
In case you (or someone) is keeping count on dinner, my wife will also be attending.

Maybe we should start a 'dinner list' to keep count? If so, I will start.

Dinner List:
1. Tom
2. Capt John
4. Mark and Carla

Riding List:
1. Tom 250/6 hour
2. Paul 250/6 hour

Jeanie and I had dinner at Ruby River last Sunday night. Excellent as always. The Sterling Cabernet was an excellent compliment and they have added a very good bread pudding in bourbon sauce to their dessert menu. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s0105/grinser/grinning-smiley-018.gif

Inspecting my Reno operations gets me there 6-7 times a year. Lots of people and custom cars already in town for Hot August Nights next weekend.

I emailed Mike regarding the reservations. He wrote back saying the restaurant doesn't take reservation, at least not formally. He just gives them a heads up every year when a big group is coming in after the riders' meeting. So, we all show up and if we get seated right away, great.http://tinyurl.com/cdl5l If not we get on the wait list, and have an adult beverage at the bar. http://tinyurl.com/asf4b

Thanks for the recommendation, Bob.

Everyone who's riding up: I'm going to plan on being at A&S NLT 12:00, and leave a little bit after. Lunch on the way up sounds good.

By the way, if you haven't been to the Peppermill this year, it is under major renovation and can be something of a pain due to parking limitations. New suite tower, new parking structure, new entrance, new exterior facades, ect. The 8 level parking structure is right in the middle of the old parking area. Only the bottom two levels were open and those by valet only.(Free for cars during construction) They may let you ride in. The construction has created a traffic bottleneck in front of the (former)main entrance which is now closed off by renovation of the exterior. I would suggest you use the back parking lot behind the hotel by the pool area. It seemed to have plenty of spaces early in the evening but was completely filled by 2100 on a Sunday night. You can enter off Lynnberry Street that runs behind the property parallel to Virginia. The main entrance was something of a clogged mess with very little available self-parking and crazed vacationeers looping around looking for spaces.

Thanks for the info, Bob; I'll post it on the Blue Knights CA VII forum. Tom, I'll try to meet up with you guys at A&S at 1130-1200 hrs, unless Woz does an organized ride from down here.

If he does and time constraints are right, I'll try to have him make a rest stop at A&S to pick the rest of our group up. In either case, I'll look forward to seeing everybody at the mandatory Rider's Meeting on Friday evening at the Peppermill.

Gents,

NV II usually arranges for MC parking, with the hotel, for the Blue Butt. The roped off area usually is back by the pool. We will see if that’s the same this year.

Capt. John, how many from 7 are going? Any idea?

Tom:

Don't wait for me at A&S, because I'm heading to Reno early to take-in the Reno Gun Show at the Hilton.

See you all at the Rider's Meeting Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., and at the Green River Steak House following the meeting.

I just got a room at the Peppermill.:) Of course I was quite late getting my res., but with one room left, I managed a dbl./smoking room. Not cheap but I can use the extra bed for junking up. I'll sign up for the rally between 4-7pm.
I'll be at A&S by late morning on friday, too.

I won't make A&S by 12 today. I have a Bay Area run, leaving now. I'll have to meet you all at the Pepermill later for the Rally check-in between 4-7.

Okay, Roger. Check-in is usually in the parking lot when you pull in. The riders' meeting is usually in a conference room at 19:15.
