The Garmin/Navtech City Navigator version 7 for North America takes up 1.6gb, so yes, you would need a 2gb CF card to hold it all.

Howdy Gerhard,
I concur with Steve on the utilization of the storage for the entire Map set.
I would add that the 2610 will NOT work with a CF card greater than 2GB due to the FAT format.
What this means is that if you want to store the entire map set AND want to have keep track of extensive "logging" of your trips, then you're going to have to frequently (maybe every couple of days) transfer the GPS "tracks" to your PC.

If I remember correctly (it's been over two years now), when I tried to load the V6 detailed maps for a trip from California to Colorado and back (sort of a loop), I could not get all of them to fit at one time.
I could be remembering wrong because at the time I was looking for and excuse to get the 2GB, load ALL North America maps and be done with it :o
