I would like to add the Garmin 2820 GPS to my BC3 comm system. I currently have the Garmin 2730 and it works well. I would like to get the cell phone to work.

Here are my thoughts.

The 2820 and 2730 have the same mount and wiring.
The 2820 has an external microphone port.

I am thinking about hooking a 2.5mm jack to both the microphone port (2820) and the cell port (BC3). Not sure if this will work. I am looking to use the cell port but for microphone portion only.

This will allow me to:
Use my existing wired helmet (J&M)

Any thoughts?

I think the 2820 and phone communicate with bluetooth, I'm guessing the 2820 acts like a bluetooth headset as far as the phone is concerned. I'm again guessing you then hardwire the GPS to the cell input on your comm system and your headsets would work. Garmin has the manual available on their site as well as a link to see if your phone is compatible and what features are supported.
