Anyone, besides me, going to the MOA national rally in Essex Junction? (7/20-7/23) If you have never been, the national is always a good time and very well organized.

I would like to reserve a room at the Holiday Inn at South Burlington. I am very familiar with the area. You can say I was almost a local for a couple of years.

My SO and I are planning to leave here in the early afternoon on Friday and head back home sometime during the day on Sunday. Wouldn't mind having company if we can time it right.
I haven't found a place to stay yet either, guess it's time to start getting serious about that. :D

I have another friend joining me from CT on the way up to VT. If you are thinking on taking I-87 West, I am sure we can all arrange to ride up together.
My friend is not riding a Bemmer, so he may need a stop or two every 180 miles for gas. If that is a problem, please let me know. We are planning on work for accommodations on Monday. Any input for anyone that has already made last minute reservations would help.
Thanks!

Hey Kevin,
How's the R100? I am seriously thinking about heading up to the Rally. Let me know where you guys are staying and maybe we could ride up together.

I'll be at the Towneplace Suites on 2A in Williston. Will most likely be riding over from Portsmouth, NH on Thursday morning. Jim, Kevin & Barnett, I'll PM you with my cell if you want to try an get together at the rally. I should be working the beer tent Friday 4-8, and may even buy you a beer or two...

Sounds like it's all coming together!
I don't have a place to stay yet, I'm thinking of something along the lines of Comfort Inn or whatever (we're really not that picky as long as it's safe) so am sure we'll find something - although it looks like I might want to start getting serious! Maybe we can all get something at the same place? I'll PM my cell to you guys so you have it to help coordinate the ride up. We won't be able to leave here until after noon ~2ish?
Jim, R100 is running rough (carbs?) and now has a loud tapping sound, maybe a wrist pin or a valve? The scary thing is the oil light came on while riding the other day so I think I'm going to shelve that project for a few months and get work done on the house. The coolest thing is I was able to get antique plates for it from DMV the other day so it's officially an old mans bike - just like I wanted!!! :D a bunch of friends were ooohin and aaaahing over it at a 4th of July BBQ we went to on it! I really love it.

OK, Sorry for the double post, just thought of this.
Do any of you guys want to get together during the week between now and the National to do some prep work? Oil & filter, valve clearance, rear drive fluid etc? Nothing too time consuming as I will only have some time during the week, I'll be in Florida next weekend for some family time so don't have a weekend. Just a thought.

I am glad you like the R100. Nice thing is they are cake to work on. If you ever need garage space to work on it let me know.
I will in FL this week and maybe a day or two next week. Not really sure yet. The leaving around noon thing works for me. I will PM you guys my Cell.

I need a few hundred miles on mine bike before I do my 6k and was thinking of riding up to the MOA site during this week to see the area a little. Then doing the 6k oil/filter change before going to the rally. Not sure about motel or tenting yet. When I did the MOA in spokane I found it very hot, the shower lines long and the food veners limitied on the stite. So I am thinking of moteling but waiting to see what my son wants to do in that regard. My cell is 860 543-9676 when i have it tuned on.

If anyone is interested in linking up for the ride from NJ we're heading up Wed morning and staying one night at the T Bird motel in Shelburne, then camping on site the rest of the week.
We're leaving my house in Cranford, NJ (Exit 137 GSP) and shooting up the GSP to the NY Thruway to make time. So far it's me (R12ST), Herb from South Jersey (R1150R), and another Tony (K1200RS).
If anyone wants to ride up with us feel free to PM or email:

I responded to Gene that my vote is for Saturday morning. I am not familir with the area so I don't know about a meeting place, but I am an early riser!
Hope to meet up with you at the rally....

I might have a connection to a Comfort Inn or similar in the Burlington area. I have not checked availability which may be an issue.
If anyone would like to try to take advantage of a discounted rate, PM me and give me your schedule so I know how many and what days/nights and I'll start checking on THIS Weds for availability. No promises, but if I can get us a block of rooms for a discounted rate it would be great to be able to all be at the same place :)

Kevin-
Best bet for me was expedia.com at this time due to the fact that everything around the area is booked for at least 1/2 hour radius. I got reservations at Econo Lodge in Shelburne. Needless to say that expedia has reserved rooms in the local hotels/motels and they had allocated the room to someone already. I guess in order not to lose the relationship with expedia (should not have rented out reserved rooms ), someone got bumped out ( I figure ).
Anyway, I would not wait until tomorrow. every minute counts.

Hi Barnett,
Debbie and I are planning to come up either Thursday night .. probably leave Thursday around 11 AM, and take a more direct route, like up NJTPK, cross GW bridge, go up the Taconic .. Rt. 22.. 7. Sound good? any suggestions? I expect to get to our hotel, Comfort Inn in S. Burlington by 6PM, we'll have to hussle a bit.

Saturday morning I would be able to make it as well. Expedia moved us today to University Inn at Burlington. I am very familiar with the area, so please let me know of a place and time and we could all do something.
It would be inexcusable if we do not meet while we are all there.
Thanks,

Hi Larry
Your planned route using NY22 and VT7 sounds good to me. When I go to South Western VT I use the MA Tpk to pick up NY22. See you up there. Barnett

NY 22 is a favorite of mine. 55 mph speed limit and very little traffic combined with a beautiful road surface and nice scenery.

I will be there Thursday through Sunday and am working the registration desk on Saturday morning from 0800-1200. I lucked out and got a room at St. Michaels College with some other guys. All three nights for $84/room. Can't beat that.
I sure hope to be able to meet up with the LT group if that comes together.

LarryTaconic parkway is a nice speed trap road, might be better off
using NY thruway system,They have better rest areas, and gas stations. And
troopers usually look other way as long as you stay in right lane.
