Help I have a R1200RT 06 I want to put my Autocom Active Plus on it. Does anyone know if you can put a CB and not a FRS radio on it. Has anyone tried it? Please let me know what will work. ( my Midland 75/822 CB want work) Also I would like to find a CD player that would work with my wiring harness. Has anyone tried that. I have speakers antenna and wiring harness. The radio prep kit that comes on the RTs.

I have had a couple of different Autocom units on an '02 RT, '06 RT, 07 GS. I had a Cobra handheld CB and a Cobra FRS on all the bikes. I use Autocom PTT switch assembly. I used a Firestick Non Ground Plane antenna/cable assembly on the 02 and 06 RT's. The cable is 16 feet in length and can't be shortened. I used to amuse myself on solo rides by talking to truckers. On the '07 GS I used the rubber duckie antenna on the CB with so-so results. On both RT's I used a home made bracket that held the CB and the FRS. Both radios used the same dual pin plug, so I could switch back and forth between CB and FRS. I found the FRS to work well for Bike-to-Bike communications. By the time the 07 GS rolled around the novelty of the CB had finally worn off. I normally also have a GPS, cell phone, MP3 player and XM radio on board. I just added a '05 LT to the fleet and will be adding an Autocom to it soon. As for your CD setup, Any portable CD player should take a stereo plug from the Autocom. My 02 RT had a Sony radio with CD/MP3 in the factory radiobox. I used the Autocom interface with that. The bike had no speakers on it.
Hope this helped

I can't get the Cobra CB to transmit on my 09 RT with Autocom. The dealer has fiddled at some length as has the supplier of the autocom. I can receive OK but can't transmit. Have changed push to talk switches autennas and wiring configerations. If you could explain how it might be made to work I would sure appreciate it.

I run a 5 watt ham radio through the Autocom with excellent results. The PTT is the only way to do it. VOX will work, but really limits you.
Be sure you're connecting any radio with the 5 pin harness and not the 3.5mm plug. Even on low power (1 watt), the 3.5mm plug couldn't handle the radio.
