Thought I'd leave SoCal on Thursday and spend the night in Lee Vining. I'd like to go thru Yosemite on Friday on Hwy 120. to pick up Hwy 49 and enjoy the Gold Country. Anyone know if snow will still be a problem? How about motorhome traffic. Is this the wrong weekend to go thru? I'd appreciate any suggestions you all might have.

Thanks, Todd/Graydude

The Pass is open, snow will not be a problem. Traffic will be moderate on Friday and will get heavy on the weekend. Once in the Yosemite Valley and on Hwy 49 there will be enough motorhomes and trailered boats to drive you crazy. If your not in a hurry you'll be OK.

I just went thru there a week or so ago, The roads are clear of all snow, and in decent shape. If you go earlier in the morning you will have no problem at all. Plan on spending some time taking pictures!

Take the time to ride up to Glacier Point while in the park. You'll be glad you did!

I just ran the 49 from south north on Monday. Hot but all the signs said the passes were open. Traffic was ok Monday but I would it to get typically bad for the holiday.

I would get to the Yosemite Valley floor as early in the day as you can manage. On busy weekends, they have been known to close it once it gets too crowded. There are already a LOT of people out of town in the Sacto area this week and they have been known to go up to the foothills, local lakes, and National parks all around this area. Early is the key to Yosemite on a four day Fourth of July Weekend.
