anybody up for some tire changing

Hello all,

I hav e the dreaded handle bar shake on my 05. the front tire is shot. I was planning on buying two Avons for the my 05 and was hoping someone out there had all the right stuff to do a tire change.

We could do another tech session cuz I hear Kevin might want to do a 12k service.

I have a tire changer, but it will need to be mounted to do the job. I could drive my car over with the stuff if you want to drill holes and put cement lags in your garage floor. I have a Mo-Jo bar that should make the de-mount/mount process easy.

Note: This stuff is brand new and I have never used it before, but I do have good instructions. Also, I don't have a tire balancer yet...

I have a buddy who owned a motorcycle shop up until about a year ago. I know he HAD all the stuff we would need.
I'll give him a call and see what I can scrounge up and report back.

I'm doing tires now also but I get them done at Cycle Gear in Windsor. I put a BS front on with tax, mounting, spin balance and tire out the door for $134... I cleaned the rim and installed my Smartire transmitter while they waited.. :) I must dispose of the take off.. My town takes them at the transfer station..

My rear is on order... Not sure on the price on that yet.. They have done 4 or 5 for me and so far they have done a good job.. Just have to bring them the rim and tire off the bike.. For me that is a pain but I don't have access to the equipment.. takes me 2 hours driving and 30 min wait for the job.

Thanks for all the offers. I will probably have to wait until mid july or early august. I am leaving Friday for vacation and i am not taking the bike so no need to rush through it. I then am headed to FLA for two weeks so I will not be back until almost the end of July. I will repost in a couple of weeks once I have the tires. BTW I am not opposed to drilling some holes in my garage floor.

Howdy! I posted a method for mounting the H.F. tire changing station.

There are 2 pics. I suggest moving the side boards closer to the center so they won't swing and extend them for better support.

The weight of the boards helps to ground the station.

Another suggestion is to "notch" the boards so they fit together like Lincoln Logs. Then, mount the changer. It should provide a very stable platform.

Best part.. portable... remove the Lag Bolts and carry it off.

Hi Guys: Check out the Tech Articles. I posted the tire changing procedure using the Harbor Freight system there last year. Pix should show the setup in my garage.

Jim: If Gerard brings the machine all you need are 2 "4X4"s to mount to the sidewall joices in a corner of the garage. That may be preferable to drilling into the concrete floor. check out the pix in the Tech Articles.
