Hello, Since this is my first post let me start off with proper saluatations by saying hi'yall. I came over from the BMWSport touring forum as I see there is an RT section on this board. I've had my RT since April 06 and it's past due for it's 6k service.
Now for my first contribution to this site: I have found that if you plug anything into the accy. plug that isn't 12volts the CANBUS doesn't like it and will shut your gadget off (ie, XM Satellite receivers that operate off 6 volts, cell phone chargers that operate off of 4.5volts, 9 volts...etc) You must hard wire these into a fuse block off the battery. The accy plug will allow anything that is 12 volts but a lot of the cigarette plugs will step down voltage and the CANBUS HATES IT. So to sum up 12 volts good out of CANBUS, anything less/more hard wire it.
