(note to moderators: I'm posting this here where I can hopefully get a larger audience; the same info has been posted in the Intercoms forum but I suspect it's Tumbleweed City there -- not every uses the "New Activity" feature)

I'm looking for someone with a K1200LT with the Baehr intercom installed. I'm trying to determine if my intercom problem is with the Baehr or my helmets. I'd like to plug my helmets into your bike to see if they work, then plug your helmet into my bike for the same reason.

Anybody out there able to help? I live near Lancaster, work in Columbus. Would be willing to ride about anywhere to resolve this issue.

Failing that, do you know of a shop that can test helmets and the Baehr? Sierra Electronics (Troy/Dayton, OH) did the helmet installs but they don't sell or service the Baehr.

Thanks.

Howard I have a Baehr unit only it is the Verso. I suspect the helmet connections are the same. Only problem I am 550 miles away. If no else responds I will gladly meet you some where in between.

I believe the headsets are model #HES 01-00 & are 5 pin cables.

PM me if you want.

I will be travelling through that area around July 7th on my way back to NJ from Minneapolis. Let me know if you don't have an answer by then.

Howard, I'm about 30mi. east of Cleveland in Chardon and I've got the KLT version of the Ultima. Be happy to meet up with you - your place, mine, or somewhere in between. I worked last Saturday, so I even have Friday off for a 3-day weekend!

PM me!

PM me!OK sir, you're on my " DO CALL List". I'm leaving for DC Friday morning, returning Monday night, then busy all next week at work. How about we set a tentative meeting date (location TBD) on July 4th? Do you have plans for the holiday? Next date might be Saturday, July 8th.

Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Ahhh, doesn't it always work out this way... I'll be up in the Adirondacks from 7/1 thru 7/9. How late do you work during the week? Want to try meeting after work? Somewhere in the middle - say Mansfield-ish? I'd hate for you to have to wait 3 weeks...

I just read your original thread. Hard to say, but I suspect the headset installation... When I installed mine, I put the headsets together before installing them into the helmets just to see what was what. I vaguely remember having issues getting the connectors all figured out... (This was before Raffy was a dealer - mine came from Austrailia with a photocopied translation of the original German directions!) It was very easy to cross some of those wires. Plus, the pesky little connectors came apart again at the drop of a hat - IIRC, I ended up taping all of them together to make sure.

I've also visually confirmed the connections in both helmets. They look good to me, but... it still ain't working. I work until 4:00 Mon-Fri most days. From Columbus I could easily meet you in the Mansfield area, but not this week. Packing tonight for tomorrow's trip. Maybe Mon or Tue next week?

That'll work, Howard... Why don't we tentatively say Tuesday evening and I'll contact you on Monday to work out the details.

Next week, I can only head up your Monday or Friday. Sorry for the screw-up. Why don't we take this "offline"? My email address is hschisler@columbus.rr.com

Thanks.

Hope you can pick this up while you're on vacation in Minneapolis. I had you on my calendar as a "tentative" for next Friday, to meet up with you and try my Baehr intercom on your bike. I met another member, grizzly (Mike Gerlica), on Thursday near Mansfield, OH. We determined that it's my Baehr (the main unit) that is malfunctioning, so there is no need for you to make arrangements to meet me next week. Thanks for your kind offer!

PS: New unit is supposed to arrive today, after which my wife and I will immediately leave on a short trip to try it out. Can't wait.

Howard, That's great news. At least you figured it out and hopefully the new unit will work well. I'm in northern Wisconsin right now after four days of riding with my wife and the Baehr unit (and the LT) worked flawlessly. Radio, CD player, intercom, cell phone and GPS all running with the Baehr. I can't imagine riding without it. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

I posted another thread about some questions I have, but after two long-ish day trips with my wife I can't imagine why I waited so long to get the thing.

Thanks.

Just arrived home after riding through Minneapolis, Chicago, all of Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Man, the LT ran great and the Baehr works flawlessly too! What a great trip. Hope everything works out for you too.

We've been taking day trips and I can't tell you (because you already know) how nice it is to be able to chat non-stop with my wife on the LT. There are a couple of issues (engine/alternator-type noise -- intermittent -- and a balance issue) that I have to talk with Baehr about. Nothing serious. I love the Baehr.
