Newb oil change Q

Got the new oil filter and it came with 3 metal rings. What are these rings? Where do they go? Are they necessary?
Also, what are the torque specs on drain plug and 3 retaining SHCS?

The big one is a crush ring washer to replace the one that comes off of the drain plug. The smaller ones are for you to comtemplate while having a beer after the oil change. BMW thinks of everything :)

All jokes aside, I just looked at one of my oil change kits. There is a large crush washer for the drain plug and two small crush washers about 1/4" around. I never could figure out what they are for but I have a nice collection of 'em!
