Sounds pretty normal. I have to rock mine a tad to get it in and out of reverse at times. When you change out that gear oil in the tranny, try synthetic. It is reported to make shifting easier. I know it did on mine.

Perfectly normal coming out of reverse or, for my bike, to get into first gear when she is cold. I always have to rock it to get into reverse from neutral. My dealer told me about these things when I bought the bike. Probable saved my shifter linkage when she was new.

I found on my bike that holding my foot down on the shift lever and letting the clutch out just a bit lets it pop right into first.

Coming out of reverse means going from neutral to 1st with the transmission. Any manual shift vehicle whether it is a truck or a motorcycle will do that.
