View Full Version : New sound, I think...

I noticed what I think is a new noise on my '04 LT. (It could be the noisy refrigerator syndrome, always there but now that I've noticed it...well, you know the story)
Anyway...
There is a sort of metallic rubbing sound at idle, sort of what you might hear from a brake rotor that has gotten a little surface rust on it from sitting too long, except it happens while sitting still. If I blip the throttle it stops for a moment but then comes right back when the revs come down. It also stops when I engage the clutch in gear and drive away, however if I idle in neutral with the clutch out the noise remains. I suspect it might be the throw-out bearing (or the LT's equivalent).
I am due for the 12k service and plan to have the dealer look into it, the question is is this some kind of imminent catastrophe or is it some "standard" noise that I wasn't aware of?

I also had a brake warning light flashing once very recently. I think that was a rear brake pad that was a little stuck from sitting in the weeks of wet weather, it made a little noise while backing the bike out of the garage. No apparent problems with the brakes, I shut off and restarted the engine and it never happened again. I will have the dealer check this out too.
