1) I was pleased to hear that BMW riders were getting props for being REAL motorcyclists. ie, wearing the gear that the sport demands. This comment and following discussion was started when someone brought up the accidents that occured in NH and the opinion that the least experienced riders are wearing the least amount of protective gear.
The quote was like "it seems that the only riders that really know what they are doing are the BMW riders. They where the riding suits and helmets and everything". To myself I was saying ...Yeah thats right!!!!!!!
Personally I saw so many riders that don't know how to hold a line in a curve. Don't know how to enter a curve. Tailgate cars and other bikes during a time and place where everyone is rubbernecking and making quick braking and turning manuvers to access scenic vistas and other roadside interests. So many putting themselves in bad situations and then being just about naked on there bikes. And then the catching up with the guys up front. Jezz, double yellow line crossing is bad enough but even on blind corners on the mountain roads...2up and naked. These people are friggen nuts.
I really noticed how many pretty girls and women riding sans helmets with sandals and shorts. They would be shattered if they hit the tarmac and never were the same after healing.
2) The only riders that were different were the folks riding bikes other than Harleys.
There had to be a 90+% ratio of HD versus any other make.
One more thing. The amount of people that drink and do drugs and then get on there bike is astounding. When I was a teen and early 20s rider I even knew not to do that.
This is really not a rant. Matter of fact observations during one of the major motorcycle events of the summer.
Have a great summer,
