Anyone had experience buying a bike from the Parts Haus (a used-only BMW dealer)? I'm having trouble finding a good deal on a used ~1995-2000 RT or LT, and they have pretty decent prices. The problem is I'm in San Francisco and they're in Los Angeles and I'm considering buying one of their bikes on ebay. Buying a used vehicle sight-unseen goes against all of my better instincts, but it seems like plenty of people do it without a problem. I checked out Parts Haus' feedback on ebay and it's very positive, but it's not clear how many of the feedback messages were from folks buying a used bike (as opposed to selling a bike or buying parts) from this dealer. Thanks for your help!

Almost bought the bike you are talking about. R1100RT with 125 K $2800. Ended up buying another one off e-bay, less miles and closer. When I first spoke with the guy he said that he would fix alot of the problems, rear rotor. I lost his number and he called me a week later and I told him I bought another bike. Very nice but I got the idea that the bike in question may have had a few other problems. I am not saying he was lying but i got the impressinn he was not disclossing everything. His feedback ratings are very high. I ended up buying the radio kit from him for my RT but I have not received it yet. I would say you get what you pay for. I am selling my other R1100RT if your interested.

I bought my bike on ebay. Looked for a 1999-2003 with low mileage. He was a few simple rules that I used to search for the bike.

1. It had to be located in California or any state that touched the state. Southwest Airlines has great rates so inspection wouldn't be a problem.
2. Had to have low mileage, less that 30,000.
3. When I found a bike the owner would have to take it to a BMW dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. The cost is about $70.00.
4. Then depending on pre-purchase inspection report the owner would pay for repairs or adjust price.
5. Then fly to the seller and close the deal with a certified check. This would be one final inspection making sure every was as stated in advertisement.

What I found was a 1999 LTI, 9900miles...$8700.00. It was located in Southern California.
