Official start time is 9:00 a.m. Come early if you like, to get a head start on your work. Donuts and coffee/juice/milk/hot tea for the early arrivals.
The barn has been cleaned up and cleaned out, ready to roll out anything on wheels (tractor, mowers, etc.) to make room for Saturday's Tech Session. 3 of the 4 overhead doors are accessible. That should be plenty of room to work on bikes. A m/c lift, courtesy of Jim Sciullo, is behind door #3. Outside is a 20x46 concrete patio, with 10x40 under cover. All bikes can be in the shade.
The forecast for Saturday in central Ohio is for 90 degrees, sunny and humid. Figures we'd have the first real scorcher of the summer during this Session, but at least it's not what are friends in Texas are having.
We have 10 people attending (9 LT owners and 1 SO), with 5 more "tentative"; I've also invited some other riding friends to stop by and watch the fun. These fellows ride Goldwings, a Harley, and an RT. No word from them if they are stopping by.
I picked up the door prizes from BMW Motorcycles of Columbus today. What a class act. When I asked them if they would like to donate some door prizes and they agreed, I was thinking of a couple of T-shirts and a BMW ball cap. We have (are you ready for this?): an oil change kit (4 qts. oil, filter, gasket, washers); a drivetrain oil change kit (gearbox oil, final drive oil, washers); 2 BMW T-shirts, 2 BMW ball caps; 2 BMW pins, several BMW license plate frames. I do believe everyone in attendance is going to walk away with a door prize. The BMW flag will be hanging on the front of the building. The flag is also courtesy of BMW Motorcycles of Columbus.
Remember the gravel drive to the barn: it's very stable until 25' from the barn, where it gets deep. Pull directly onto the concrete and park your bike.
Lunch will be served at approx. 12:30. The menu is grilled brats and hot dogs with toppings/condiments, including sauerkraut; potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans (all home-made), chips & dip; brownies and watermelon; pop, water, iced tea. If you go hungry or thirsty it's your own fault!
I'll be home tomorrow putting the finishing touches on the yard and general clean-up. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday, and if anyone reading this decides to stop in unannounced, just do it. All are welcome, and there's plenty of food.
