Some of you may remember how last year I failed to make it up the Dempster after getting blown off by gusts over 60 MPH. Pics and a bit of story at http://www.k12steve.smugmug.com/gallery/1152757

Well, THIS time I "got 'er done"!!

Just got home yesterday. Left Lewisville on 5/26. Rode the Dempster up to the AC on 5/31 and met up with Becky who'd ridden to her parents house in Cedar City, Ut on her K1200GT on 6/4.

We left Cedar City 6/7 and toured Zion, Monument Valley (frikken AWESOME), Mesa Verde, Durango, Pie Town, the VLA, Socorro, SE New Mexico and back to Lewisville on US380. On the way I got a 1/5 hour, no-notice rear tire change at Sandia BMW in Albuquerque. Thanks a BUNCH to Sal Maniaci!!!!

All told 8500 miles for me in 15 riding days; 7200 in the first 10 days, including the 500+ miles on the Dempster to/from the Arctic Circle.

At no time did I miss having the LT instead of the GS, except mebbe for the cruise control :) but the Kaoka throttle lock worked pretty well.

Steve,
Good on ya!
That is one great ride.
You learn to ride that bike like a windsurfer when those 60 MPH winds blow.
That is great that Becky got the 1200GT, I'll bet you had a wonderful time.
I head down to Utah next week. I'm hoping for *lots* of good weather.
Best,
