Yeah, I know...a few of us have Ural's, HD's, etc. but I don't remember if anyone on this board has a truly antique BMW motorcycle.

:thumb:Here's one I think is cool at Blue Moon in Atlanta:

Speakin of old iron...just read about the movie "The Great Escape". Seems that the real BMW motorcycles used by the Germans could not be used in the fence-jumping scene where Steve McQueen does the stunts.

According to the article, the BMW motorcycles did not have enough horsepower to make the jumps! So....they used modified Triumphs that looked like authentic BMW motorcycles.

That's very nice. If the machine gun is still functional, now THAT'S a farkle I'd want to install ASAP. Someone cuts you off or turns in front of you? BRAAAAPPPP!!! 50 rounds, right back atcha. That would be great for commuting.

Perry Bushong, former owner of BMW of Ft Worth, is into the old sidecar rigs in a BIG way. He's got several Afrika Corps setups, along with some others, that have all been restored to original (down to the fully functioning machine guns). He takes them down to the Confederate Air Force event every spring in Corsicana. Sweet rigs. If you go to his shop in Ft Worth (down on Sylvania), he might even give you a tour of the "museum" next door.
